Telephone consultations
GP telephone consultations are available each day for patients to discuss test results, medication review etc - problems which do not require a medical examination.
Please note that telephone calls to this surgery may be recorded for the protection of patients', doctors & staff. All recordings so made will be kept securely with access strictly controlled to maintain patients confidentiality.
Out of Hours Medical Service Between 6.30pm and 8.00am each weekday, all weekend and Bank & Public holidays
The out of hours telephone number for patients in North Somerset is 0845 121 0235
You may find it helpful to keep the number by your telephone and make sure that other members of the household know how to contact a doctor urgently at night or at the weekend. If you cannot remember the number, don’t worry, telephone the surgery using the usual number (01275 873588) and a recorded message will give you the number.
Extended Opening Hours
Our extended opening hours are Saturday mornings between 8.30am – 10.50am fortnightly. These are pre-bookable appointments available for patients who find it difficult to get to the surgery during normal working hours; priority will be given to those in full time employment or education. At present there is only one receptionist working on a Saturday, so we are unable to deal with any enquiries, requests for or collection of repeat prescriptions, booking appointment etc which staff deal with from Monday to Friday each week.
Some of the doctors have also introduced pre-bookable appointments starting at 8.00am, to give those patients who are employed the opportunity to see a doctor before starting work.
The out of hour’s service will continue to look after all your urgent problems outside normal surgery hours which are 8.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
Appointments
Doctor’s appointments can be made by contacting the surgery from 8:00 am Monday to Friday. This can be done by either telephoning the surgery or by coming to the reception desk in person. We offer the following appointments:
- Same day bookings
- 24/48 hrs appointments
- Pre-bookable appointments: these are particularly helpful to patients who are in full time employment, full time education (term time only) and for those patients who need to arrange for a carer to bring them but this does not include patients who require taxis to bring them to the surgery.
If for any reason you request a same day appointment and the surgeries are already fully booked and you cannot wait for the next available appointment your name may be added to the ‘Triage’ list. Your contact details will be taken and a brief description of your symptoms noted ready for the duty doctor to view during the current surgery session. Depending on the outcome of the doctor’s assessment of your symptoms you may then be required to come to the surgery at very short notice.
We will endeavour to make the appointment with the doctor of your choice but this may not always be possible as all appointments are subject to availability.
We also offer Telephone appointments and these may be booked in advance with any of the GPs. You should only use this facility if you are sure that the doctor will not need to see you in person for an examination
Appointments for any of the Nurse led clinics, Treatment Room or Phlebotomy are usually booked in advance.
