Clevedon Community Hospital, located in Old Street, was opened in
1874 and has mostly been used for respite and convalescence. It now
focuses on delivering pro-active rehabilitation services and the
prevention of acute hospital admission.
The Hospital offers care for non-acute patients requiring nursing,
medical attention and therapy to recover from an episode of illness or a
medical intervention. However, there are no doctors based permanently at
the Hospital. The Doctors from the Clevedon GP Practices visit regularly throughout the weekdays. During
evenings, overnight, bank holidays and weekends we access medical care
through the North Somerset GP Out Of Hours Service.
A Specialist Consultant is also available on a weekly basis to
advise patients about their care. Patients may also need the services of
other professionals such as Physiotherapists or Occupational
Therapists. These are available as needed and, if appropriate, these
services will continue after patients have been discharged.
