The practice has been in Clevedon for many years looking after the primary health care needs of approximately 6,500 people living in Clevedon and the surrounding villages of Tickenham, Kenn, Kingston Seymour, Walton in Gordano and Weston in Gordano.
Two of the present partners have been working together since 1994. Liz Patrick has been in the practice since 1986 with Glenda Horner joining in 1994, and Louise McCloskey and Rachael Kenyon joining in 2006. Robin Wong is the newest member of the team and has been here since June 2008. Glenda Horner, Louise McCloskey, Rachael Kenyon and Robin Wong work 6 sessions per week and Liz Patrick 5 sessions.
Mohammad Alam has been employed as a salaried GP since September 2009.
The practice initially worked from a Victorian House until 1985 when it moved to a converted bungalow. This under went an extension in 1992. In 1998 the bungalow adjoining the surgery was purchased. The conversion to the current surgery was completed in February 2000.
The new surgery has six consulting rooms, one for each partner and one for the Registrar. There are three treatment rooms for use by nurses, health care assistants and phlebotomists, reception and records room and waiting area. Upstairs there are offices and staff rest area. Attached to the building there is a pharmacy which is leased to the Co-Op Chemist.
One of the partners has attended recognised trainers courses and our whole practice is committed to helping the training process. Glenda Horner is currently the trainer and has been approved since May 1999. Registrars usually work at a surgery to complete the last year of their GP training. This period usually commences in August each year. We are also involved in teaching first and second year medical students attached to Bristol University. F2 Doctors (doctors who have been qualified for approximately 2 years) have also spent some time working at Sunnyside as part of their training.
